Child labour in algeria: stigma of poverty and family strategies
Our paper aims to analyze child labor as a dimension of the general problematic of the informal economy. The question concerns the relationship between the phenomenon and two explanatory variables: families’ poverty and family’s strategies. It is admitted that children at work is generally a parents’ decision. A majority of working children attend also school. Most of them work as street vendor orin agricultural activities. The occasional child labor characterizes especially urban wage earning household heads. Parenting strategies in the work of their children are based on their employment status as they give information, at the same time, on the impact of intangible factors.
